Dr. Abigail Pinnock, DVM

Known to most clients as Dr. Abi, she grew up in Jamaica with an early and fixed idea of what she wanted to do with her life.

She completed her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at the University of the West Indies in Trinidad & Tobago, qualifying at 23. Large animal internships followed at Tuskegee College of Veterinary Medicine in Alabama and the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Canada.

Back home, she joined the Jamaica Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals in Kingston. Surgery turned out to be the thing she was best at and most drawn to, and she became the JSPCA's lead surgeon before founding Island Mobile Vets.

In 2020 she entered Miss Universe Jamaica — largely, by her own account, because it frightened her — and finished as first runner-up.

Outside the practice she dances, travels, and is outnumbered at home by five Pomeranians.
